Emergency Tree Removal and Storm Damage in Framingham

Fallen white pine across a driveway after a nor’easter in Framingham, MA

If a tree is on your house, your car or across your driveway, call the number at the top of this page. We answer it day and night. If wires are involved, call Eversource or the fire department first and stay clear. We will get there as soon as the area is safe.

What we do on a storm call

  1. Look over the situation and make it safe. That means getting the weight off the roof and securing anything still hanging.
  2. Lift the tree off the structure in sections with ropes, a crane or a bucket truck, depending on what it landed on.
  3. Tarp the roof if the tree broke through, so you are dry until your roofer gets there.
  4. Come back to clean up the rest, grind the stump and haul the wood, often on a second visit once the urgent work is done.

Storms in Framingham

Framingham gets every kind of storm New England has. Nor'easters bring wet, heavy snow that snaps pines and maples. Summer thunderstorms knock over shallow-rooted trees in soaked ground. Ice storms coat every branch and bring down limbs all over the city in a single night. After big storms we often work long days through Saxonville, Nobscot and the neighborhoods around Lake Cochituate, where tall pines stand close to houses.

We keep a list of storm calls and work them in order of danger. A tree through a roof or blocking the only way out of a driveway comes before a tree down in the back of the lot. We will tell you honestly when we can be there.

Insurance

Homeowners insurance usually covers removal of a tree that falls on your house or another covered structure. Coverage for a tree that falls in the yard without hitting anything is often limited. We give you an itemized invoice with photos so you have what your adjuster needs. Call your insurance company early, since some want to send someone out before the tree is moved, unless the damage is getting worse.

Before the next storm

The best emergency call is the one you never have to make. If you have a big tree leaning toward the house, a dead pine near the bedroom, or a split maple over the driveway, have it looked at before winter. Our guide to signs a tree is dangerous lists what to watch for, and we are happy to come out and take a look.

Common Questions

Do you really answer the phone at night?
Yes. Storm calls reach someone 24 hours a day. Response time depends on how many calls come in after a big storm, and we will give you an honest estimate when you call.
Will my insurance pay for tree removal?
Most homeowners policies cover removing a tree that falls on a covered structure, like your house or garage. Trees that fall without hitting anything are often not covered or have a low limit. Check your policy, and we will provide the photos and invoice your adjuster asks for.
A tree is on a power line. Can you remove it?
Not until the utility makes the line safe. Call Eversource and stay away from the wire. Once the line is de-energized or cleared, we can handle the tree.
Can you tarp my roof?
Yes. If a tree damaged the roof, we can tarp it after removing the tree to keep water out until repairs.
