Brush and Tree Debris Removal in Framingham

Crew feeding a pile of storm brush and branches into a wood chipper in Framingham, MA

Every yard collects brush. A storm drops limbs across the lawn. You spend a weekend cutting back the overgrown corner and end up with a pile taller than you are. A neighbor's tree comes down and half of it lands on your side. We come in, chip it, haul it and leave the yard clean.

Storm debris

After a nor'easter or a summer thunderstorm, most of the mess is limbs and branches spread across the yard, not whole trees. The city curbside program is not built for a yard full of broken pine and maple limbs. We clear the lawn, the beds and the driveway, chip the small stuff, and cut the larger wood to firewood length or haul it away.

If anything is still hanging in the trees or a whole tree is down on a structure, that is an emergency call first. We can do the hangers and the cleanup in the same visit.

Brush piles left from DIY work

This one is common. You or a past owner cut back a bunch of trees and shrubs, and the brush got piled in the back corner. Years later it is a mound of dry sticks with vines growing through it, and it is home to mice, ticks and the occasional skunk. We pull the pile apart, run what we can through the chipper, and haul the rest. If there are logs mixed in, we cut them to length and stack them or take them.

Old brush piles also sit on top of whatever was there before. Once they are gone, the ground underneath can be raked, loamed and seeded.

Chipping on site

Our chippers take branches up to about a foot thick. Chipping on site means a lot less volume to haul, and it keeps the job fast. You have choices with the chips:

  • We haul them all away with the truck
  • We dump some or all of them in a spot you pick, for paths, garden beds or around trees
  • We spread them out in the woods at the back of the lot where they will break down

Wood chips make a good mulch for trees and shrub beds, as long as you keep them a few inches away from the trunk.

Invasive brush

A lot of the brush on Framingham lots is not native. Glossy and common buckthorn, Oriental bittersweet, multiflora rose, honeysuckle and burning bush spread fast along the edges of yards, especially near the woods in Nobscot, North Framingham and Saxonville. Bittersweet vines climb into trees, wrap the trunks and can pull a tree over with their weight.

We cut these back to the ground, chip them and haul them off. Buckthorn and bittersweet come back from the roots, so plan on cutting the sprouts again or pulling them for a season or two. For larger areas, or if you want the whole back of the lot opened up, see our lot and land clearing page.

Near wetlands

If your brush is near a pond, a stream or a wetland, check with the Framingham Conservation Commission before work starts. Cutting in the buffer zone without approval can lead to fines. We can tell you if your property looks like it falls in that area.

Pricing

Brush cleanup is priced by volume and access. A pile we can reach with the chipper from the driveway goes fast. Brush that has to be dragged a long way through a gate takes more time. Send us a photo or set up a visit, and we will give you a firm number in writing. Stumps left behind can be handled with our stump grinding service.

Common Questions

Will you take just a brush pile with no tree work?
Yes. We do brush and debris cleanup on its own. Send a photo and the location of the pile for a quick estimate.
Can you leave the wood chips?
Yes. Many customers keep some or all of the chips for mulch. Just tell us where you want them dumped.
Do you remove bittersweet vines from trees?
Yes. We cut the vines at the base and pull what we safely can out of the tree. The rest dries up and falls out over time.
How big a branch can your chipper take?
Our chippers handle branches up to about a foot in diameter. Larger wood gets cut to length and stacked or hauled away.
